Ramayana Part I banks ₹8.16 crore in advance sales

Mumbai: Two weeks before its November 5 release, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part I is already building a measurable first-day base. Advance sales opened on Diwali and have reached ₹8.16 crore for opening day, according to early estimates tracked by Sacnilk. Trade estimates point toward a double-digit opening day, with the booking window still wide open.

Where the early money is coming from

The National Capital Region is the leading city market, contributing ₹2 crore, or roughly 24 per cent of the opening-day advance gross so far. Mumbai follows with ₹1.48 crore, and Hyderabad has recorded ₹46.68 lakh. Together, the top 10 cities account for 75 per cent of the film’s advance-booking gross.

Maharashtra is the strongest state contributor at ₹2.14 crore, while Karnataka has added ₹58.23 lakh. The early concentration in urban centres and premium halls is a reminder that event films often open through the most expensive inventory first.

Formats are shaping the total

Hindi screenings dominate opening-day sales, contributing about 91 per cent across 3,737 shows. Within that, Hindi 3D is the biggest format contributor at ₹4.89 crore. Premium formats—IMAX, 4DX, Dolby, ICE and EPIQ—make up 29 per cent of the gross, indicating that a meaningful share of the audience is choosing higher-priced tickets rather than standard shows.

Some afternoon and evening shows in Mumbai are priced as high as ₹3,170. Even so, morning screenings are recording the highest occupancy so far, a signal that families and early planners are securing seats before premium evening slots fill.

For Hindi cinema, a mythological tentpole arriving in the Diwali-to-November corridor carries a particular pressure: it has to convert cultural familiarity into event-scale turnout. The early mix of premium formats and morning occupancy suggests the film is being treated as a planned outing rather than an impulse ticket.

What to watch over the next two weeks

The ₹8.16 crore figure is a booking floor, not a final number. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita, and its audience pools range from mythology viewers to star fans and premium-format regulars.

  • ₹8.16 crore in opening-day advance sales, with two weeks still to go.
  • NCR leads city markets at ₹2 crore, about 24 per cent of the total so far.
  • Hindi 3D is the largest format at ₹4.89 crore; premium formats add 29 per cent.
  • Mumbai ticket prices reach ₹3,170 for some afternoon and evening shows.

Between now and November 5, the key markers are whether NCR’s share holds as other markets add screens, whether 3D continues to outpace 2D, and how much headroom remains in morning shows.
