Nayyi Navelli Second Friday Slips to Rs 60 Lakh

Yami Gautam's Nayyi Navelli earned Rs 60 lakh net in India on day eight, a 60% drop, as worldwide gross reached Rs 29.88 crore.

Nayyi Navelli Second Friday Slips to Rs 60 Lakh

Yami Gautam’s Nayyi Navelli entered its second week with a sharply smaller number. On Friday, October 23, the Hindi release collected Rs 60 lakh net in India, a 60% fall from the Rs 1.50 crore it had earned on Thursday. The film played 1,258 shows on Friday and sold an estimated 28,306 tickets.

With that day added, cumulative India net collection stands at Rs 22.75 crore, while domestic gross is Rs 27.03 crore. International markets contributed Rs 10 lakh on Friday, lifting the overseas gross to Rs 2.85 crore. Combined, the worldwide gross has reached Rs 29.88 crore.

Two ways to read the total

Net and gross are not interchangeable. Net collection is the figure after entertainment tax is deducted, while gross is the pre-deduction value. That distinction matters here because the India net total and the worldwide gross total are often quoted side by side, but they sit at different stages of the box-office chain.

The day-eight record is more about hold than discovery. A film that drops 60% from the previous day in its second Friday is no longer converting casual walk-ins. It is relying on the audience that has already shown up once, multiplied by word of mouth.

The first week that set the base

  • Friday, Oct 16: Rs 3.25 crore
  • Saturday, Oct 17: Rs 4.00 crore
  • Sunday, Oct 18: Rs 4.40 crore
  • Monday, Oct 19: Rs 2.65 crore
  • Tuesday, Oct 20: Rs 4.35 crore
  • Wednesday, Oct 21: Rs 2.00 crore
  • Thursday, Oct 22: Rs 1.50 crore

The first week closed at Rs 22.15 crore net in India. Friday’s Rs 60 lakh pushes the cumulative to Rs 22.75 crore, so the second week is starting as an add-on to the opening-week base rather than a fresh leg.

Where the audience sits

Friday’s overall occupancy was 14.84% for the Hindi 2D version. The time-split is revealing: morning shows were weakest at 8.23%, afternoons at 12.31%, evening at 14.15% and night shows strongest at 22.38%. The tilt toward late shows suggests working audiences are still interested, but the daytime weakness is limiting the daily total.

The story of a seemingly perfect bride whose arrival begins to raise suspicion in a Meerut household is the kind of premise that depends on conversation. For that to turn into a longer run, the second weekend has to hold the night audience and add back some of the evening crowd.

What comes next

The lifetime number is now less likely to be set by the opening-week momentum and more by the Saturday-Sunday recovery. If the weekend builds from the 22% night-level attendance, the fall can stabilise. If morning and afternoon shows remain below the teens, the film will be remembered as a front-loaded mid-range performer. Overseas gross so far is modest at Rs 2.85 crore, which means India remains the decisive market for the final tally.
