Jailer 2 crosses ₹287 crore in six days, tops Peddi and Toxic

Jailer 2 has crossed ₹287.80 crore India net in six days, passing the lifetime totals of Peddi and Toxic. A look at the festive box-office run.

Jailer 2 makes ₹287.80 crore in six days

The six-day number

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 added ₹45.55 crore net in India on its sixth day, across 15,464 shows, taking the India net total to ₹287.80 crore, according to trade figures reported by Hindustan Times. The sequel opened at ₹59.70 crore on October 15, fell to ₹37.10 crore on Friday, then climbed through the weekend with ₹47.25 crore on Saturday and ₹55.85 crore on Sunday.

Monday was the first full weekday test and the film held at ₹43.35 crore. Tuesday’s rise to ₹45.55 crore matters because it suggests the Navratri-Dussehra corridor is still filling seats even after the opening weekend.

  • Thursday: ₹59.70 crore net, 55.4% occupancy
  • Friday: ₹37.10 crore net, 48.2% occupancy
  • Saturday: ₹47.25 crore net, 53.9% occupancy
  • Sunday: ₹55.85 crore net, 62% occupancy
  • Monday: ₹43.35 crore net, 49.9% occupancy
  • Tuesday: ₹45.55 crore net, 15,464 shows

Why it matters for Hindi cinema

The six-day total already clears the lifetime India net collections of two prominent recent releases: Ram Charan’s Peddi at ₹244.64 crore and Yash’s Toxic at ₹250.13 crore. For the Hindi trade, that offers a benchmark for what a star-led action sequel can collect when it opens into a holiday window.

Jailer 2 is the second chapter of Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer universe, following the 2023 blockbuster. Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty in the cast, music by Anirudh Ravichander and production by Sun Pictures. Director Nelson Dilipkumar wrote on X: “Theatres are going bonkers! Thalaivar magic hits different.”

The film’s cultural pull is also visible beyond trade numbers: cricketer Sanju Samson booked an entire theatre to watch it with family and friends. For now, the next test is whether the sequel can hold in its second week once the festival tail thins.
