Nayyi Navelli has closed out its opening weekend as the stronger of the two new Hindi releases, even though Prahaar: The Ujjwal Nikam Story put together the larger Sunday jump. Sacnilk’s provisional Day 4 figures put the Yami Gautam horror comedy at Rs 11.75 crore in India net collections, with Prahaar at Rs 9.21 crore.
That keeps the race tight enough to matter through the weekdays. A lead of roughly Rs 2.5 crore is not a runaway margin for two films releasing head-to-head in a crowded October field.
The Sunday scoreboard
Nayyi Navelli earned Rs 4.40 crore net in India on Sunday, a 10 per cent improvement over Saturday’s Rs 4 crore. Its three-day domestic net stood at Rs 11.65 crore before Monday’s early figures nudged the total higher. Domestic gross reached Rs 13.88 crore, and the film reported a worldwide gross of Rs 15.88 crore.
Prahaar, directed by Avinash Arun, collected Rs 3.65 crore net on Sunday, up 15.9 per cent from Rs 3.15 crore on Saturday. Its India net was Rs 9.15 crore after three days, with early Monday shows moving it to Rs 9.21 crore. Domestic gross stood at Rs 10.86 crore, while overseas gross reached Rs 2 crore after Sunday’s Rs 50-lakh contribution, taking worldwide gross to Rs 12.86 crore.
Why the bigger Sunday jump matters
The gap in weekend totals is one measure; the direction of collections is another. Prahaar’s 15.9 per cent Sunday rise outdid Nayyi Navelli’s 10 per cent gain, though both grew. For a film built on Rajkummar Rao and Jaideep Ahlawat revisiting landmark criminal cases—including the 1993 Bombay blasts and the 2008 Mumbai attacks—the weekday audience may differ from the weekend crowd that pushed the horror comedy.
- Nayyi Navelli: Rs 11.75 crore India net (early Day 4), Rs 15.88 crore worldwide gross
- Prahaar: Rs 9.21 crore India net (early Day 4), Rs 12.86 crore worldwide gross
- Both films grew on Sunday, but Prahaar’s percentage rise was stronger
The provisional Monday signal
Early Day 4 figures showed Nayyi Navelli adding Rs 10 lakh across 761 shows and Prahaar adding Rs 6 lakh across 509 shows. Those are provisional numbers—small enough that final collections could move the totals—but they kept the horror comedy ahead as the working week began.
The crowded field ahead
Neither film has the field to itself. The two releases are sharing screens with Jailer 2, Ranabaali and Hollywood titles such as Social Reckoning, Prime Time and Heart of the Beast. That competition makes the Monday-to-Thursday hold as important as the opening weekend. If Prahaar’s stronger growth carries into the working week, the distance between the two films could narrow quickly.
For now, the ledger is clear: Nayyi Navelli has the bigger total, Prahaar has the better Sunday momentum. The weekday numbers will show which advantage holds.
