Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta was gearing up for his OTT debut with an ambitious eight-part web series based on CIU: Criminals in Uniform, the gripping true-crime thriller written by investigative journalists Dr Sanjay Singh and Rakesh Trivedi.
Titled ‘Scandal’, the project was being developed as a multi-starrer crime drama, with Gupta and his team putting together an elaborate pitch deck that envisioned some of Bollywood’s biggest names in pivotal roles. Anil Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah and Akshaye Khanna were among the actors approached for the series.
