Drishyam 3’s late-weekend improvement has come too late to put Aamir Khan’s Dangal under serious domestic threat. The Ajay Devgn-led crime thriller collected 1.75 crore net on its fifth Sunday, up from 1.6 crore on Saturday. It now has only three clear days before Ramayana occupies the Hindi market’s screens.
After 31 days in cinemas, Drishyam 3 stands at 377.75 crore net in India, with gross collections of 445.78 crore.
The arithmetic against a late surge
Dangal finished its 2016 run at 387.39 crore net and remains the benchmark in this comparison. The gap is now 9.64 crore. That sounds bridgeable, but the momentum has faded.
The week-wise path shows how front-loaded the total is:
- Week 1 – 243.5 crore
- Week 2 – 90 crore
- Week 3 – 28.75 crore
- Week 4 – 11.15 crore
- Day 29 – 1 crore
- Day 30 – 1.6 crore
- Day 31 – 1.75 crore
By the end of week two, the film had already banked 333.5 crore net. The following weeks have been a story of diminishing returns, with daily earnings now hovering in the 1.5-1.75 crore band. The fifth-Sunday bump is genuine, but it adds only 15 lakh over Saturday, not enough to cover a 9.64-crore gap.
Why Ramayana freezes the race
Ramayana releases on Thursday, November 5, and is expected to take the bulk of showcasing. Once that happens, the clean run for Drishyam 3 is over. Even if the film holds a scattering of shows, its collection window narrows sharply.
With the current daily pace, the film is projected to finish at 380-382 crore net. That would keep Dangal at a safe distance and leave Drishyam 3 as a major hit without breaking the all-time domestic record.
How to read the result
Dangal was the highest-grossing Hindi film of its time and was declared an all-time blockbuster. For a franchise instalment to land within 10 crore of that 2016 milestone is notable, but the final lap was decided by the release calendar as much as by demand. The first fortnight supplied nearly all the firepower; the last stretch only refined the total.
Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 3 is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, Ajit Andhare, and Alok Jain under Panorama Studios and Star Studio18. The cast also includes Jaideep Ahlawat, Tabu, Rajat Kapoor, Kamlesh Sawant, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, and Prakash Raj in key roles.
For readers tracking box-office history, the relevant number is now the gap rather than the summit. The franchise will fall short of Dangal, but it has supplied another strong domestic result.
