Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s Udta Teer has reached a four-day India net of ₹22.70 crore, according to Sacnilk estimates cited by News18. The spy comedy added ₹3.15 crore on its first Monday, a drop of 67% from Sunday’s ₹8.20 crore.
The Aakash Kaushik-directed film opened on Friday, October 23, with ₹4.10 crore. It improved to ₹7.25 crore on Saturday and ₹8.20 crore on Sunday, before the Monday slide across 5,805 shows.
Day-wise collection
- Friday: ₹4.10 crore
- Saturday: ₹7.25 crore
- Sunday: ₹8.20 crore
- Monday: ₹3.15 crore
The Saturday-to-Friday gain was about 76%, which made the weekend look encouraging. Monday’s 67% fall now changes the question: not whether the film can open, but whether it can hold.
Why the first Monday matters
In the Hindi market, the first Monday is an early test of repeat value and casual audience interest. A weekend can be powered by advance purchase and fan turnout, but the next working day shows whether word of mouth is widening the audience or narrowing it. For Udta Teer, a mid-budget star-led comedy, that test is especially acute because the film’s tone has already divided reviewers.
News18’s review called the film’s attempts at humour “often contrived” while rating it 3 out of 5 stars. The review noted that several action-comedy set pieces, including a hospital sequence and an Old Delhi chase, leaned on exaggeration without landing laughs.
The wider picture
The film is a debut feature for director Aakash Kaushik and has a producing bench that includes Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Guneet Monga, Apoorva Mehta and Achin Jain under Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. Alongside the leads, the cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Suhail Nayyar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Brijendra Kala and Sandeep Anand.
For now, the box office run of Udta Teer is a simple story of momentum: a slow Friday, a strong weekend and a sharp Monday. Whether the total keeps climbing will depend on the size of the next two weekday drops and whether the second weekend can recover.
