Drishyam 2’s 31-day streak stands; Drishyam 3 stops at 27

A 90-lakh Day 27 ended Drishyam 3's hopes of matching Drishyam 2's 31-day run of 1 crore net daily as Ramayana approaches.

The 31-day streak stands as Drishyam 3 stops at 27

Drishyam 3 has fallen short of the benchmark that gave Drishyam 2 its long-tail identity: 1 crore net or more every day. On day 27, the film slipped below that mark, ending any chance of matching its predecessor’s 31-day streak.

The day the streak ended

According to Koimoi, the Ajay Devgn-starrer collected 90 lakh net on its fourth Wednesday, the 27th day of release. That represented a 28% drop from day 26’s 1.25 crore, and marked the first time during the domestic run that the threequel has earned less than 1 crore net in a day.

Drishyam 2, by contrast, held the 1-crore net mark for 31 consecutive days. With only seven days left before a major release takes over screens, Drishyam 3 can no longer reach that record.

Where the collections stand

After 27 days, the film’s India net total is 372.5 crore, or 439.58 crore gross. The week-wise movement shows how sharply the initial rush cooled:

  • Week 1: 243.5 crore
  • Week 2: 90 crore
  • Week 3: 28.75 crore
  • Day 22: 1.4 crore
  • Day 23: 2.65 crore
  • Day 24: 3 crore
  • Day 25: 1.05 crore
  • Day 26: 1.25 crore
  • Day 27: 90 lakh

Why the 31-day mark matters

A long run above 1 crore is not just a statistical footnote. It signals that a film is drawing repeat viewers and retaining screens after the opening wave, which is what made Drishyam 2 a word-of-mouth success. Drishyam 3 opened with record numbers for the franchise and was initially spoken of as a 400- or 500-crore net grosser, but its daily hold has been weaker.

The 90-lakh day is not a collapse in isolation. A 28% fall from a weekday to a weekday is ordinary attrition for most titles. But because the franchise record was the comparison point, it matters: the threequel fell four days short of a mark that had become shorthand for stamina.

The final week

The film now has about seven days to add to its total before Ramayana arrives on November 5 and effectively ends its run. Whether it crosses the 400-crore net mark depends on how strongly it performs in that closing window.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 3 is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, Ajit Andhare and Alok Jain under Panorama Studios and Star Studio18. Alongside Devgn, the cast includes Jaideep Ahlawat, Tabu, Rajat Kapoor, Kamlesh Sawant, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Prakash Raj. The film was made on a budget of 110 crore.
