Udta Teer Day 5: ₹1.05 cr live; India net ₹23.85 cr

Mumbai: Ayushmann Khurrana’s Udta Teer is holding without breaking out. Sacnilk’s live box office tracker put Day 5 at a net collection of ₹1.05 crore from 3,452 shows reported so far, taking the film’s India net total to ₹23.85 crore and India gross to ₹28.45 crore. The day’s figure remains a running estimate; final collections are expected later in the night.

The opening-day benchmark

The film opened at ₹4.10 crore India net on Friday, October 23. That places it eighth among Ayushmann Khurrana’s biggest opening days and outside his career top five. The comparison is sharpest against Thamma, his career-best opener, which collected ₹24 crore India net on its first day in 2025. Udta Teer‘s opening therefore ran nearly 83% below that high-water mark.

That matters less as a verdict on quality and more as a measure of initial demand. A spy comedy built on amnesia and mistaken identity is an unconventional pitch for the mass market, and a wide release across 6,265 shows did not translate into strong first-day pull.

What the live data shows

  • Day 5 live net: ₹1.05 crore from 3,452 shows tracked.
  • Cumulative India net: ₹23.85 crore; India gross ₹28.45 crore.
  • Opening day: ₹4.10 crore net, eighth among the actor’s openers.
  • Hindi 2D occupancy: 13.4%, with Chennai leading at 35%.
  • Day 6 advance: ₹1.71 crore gross as of 4 pm IST on 27 October.

Why weekday holds matter

For a film that opened below par, weekdays reveal whether it stabilises or slides. A 13.4% occupancy for Hindi 2D shows on Day 5 suggests pockets of interest rather than broad momentum, even with Chennai leading at 35%. Advance booking for the next day, at ₹1.71 crore gross, offers a modest floor rather than a breakout signal.

This is also a useful counterpoint to Hindi cinema’s recent spy-thriller habit of scaling up. As Sacnilk’s reporting notes, the last decade has pushed the genre toward louder, bigger, invincible heroes. Udta Teer attempts the opposite: a comic, fallible spy whose memory loss turns the premise inward. The early box office suggests the audience has not yet rewarded that contrarian bet at the scale a Dharma Productions–Sikhya Entertainment backing would hope for.

Directed by Aakash Kaushik and backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment, the film pairs Khurrana with Sara Ali Khan, with Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor and Gulshan Grover in supporting roles. Its premise—a Pakistani spy who loses his memory and begins believing he is an Indian counter-terrorism officer—sets up the comic complications the title promises.
