Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar nets ₹1.23 cr in two days; day two up 46%

Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar, the Anuj Saini-directed romantic comedy about three friends discovering love at a school reunion, found a stronger pulse on its second day. The film added ₹73 lakh net on Saturday, a 46% rise over Friday, bringing its two-day India net to ₹1.23 crore. India gross stands at ₹1.48 crore, according to trade figures compiled by Sacnilk.

The Saturday bump is the story. Day two contributed 59.3% of the two-day total, which means the opening day was the weaker half of the weekend. The film sold an estimated 36,190 tickets on Saturday and 63,096 across the run so far.

Where the audience is

The film played 1,923 shows on day two, with the Hindi 2D version recording an overall occupancy of 12.5%. Chennai was the clear lead at 36.5%, followed by Hyderabad at 16.3% and Bengaluru at 14.8%. That southern skew is the only regional detail the early data offers, and it suggests the film’s real traction is concentrated rather than broad.

Reading the weekend shape

  • Day two net: ₹73 lakh, up 46% over Friday
  • Cumulative India net: ₹1.23 crore
  • Cumulative India gross: ₹1.48 crore
  • Day two tickets: 36,190; run total 63,096
  • Saturday occupancy: 12.5% overall; Chennai 36.5%
  • Day three advance by 5 am: 23,448 tickets worth ₹60.40 lakh

For a film working with fewer than 2,000 shows, the direction of the curve matters more than the size of the opening. A 46% Saturday lift from a small base can signal that early audiences are responding, but it can also be a low-base effect. Sunday is the test.

What Sunday could tell us

Early advance data gives a modest signal: by 5:00 AM IST on 25 October, 23,448 tickets worth ₹60.40 lakh had been sold for day three. That is roughly two-thirds of Saturday’s final ticket count, though advance value and final collections are measured differently. A Sunday hold close to Saturday’s level would strengthen the case for a word-of-mouth run; a slide back toward Friday’s level would suggest the bump was a one-day correction.

Overseas and worldwide gross were not available in the update. The numbers remain small in absolute terms, but for a romantic comedy with no major star names in the trade report, the more useful story is whether it can hold its limited footprint beyond the weekend.
