Udta Teer crosses ₹11.10 crore in two days

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan's spy comedy improved on Saturday to cross ₹11.10 crore in two days despite mixed reviews and holdover competition.

Udta Teer crosses ₹11.10 crore in two days

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy comedy Udta Teer improved on its second day in cinemas, taking its two-day India total to ₹11.10 crore, according to figures reported by Sacnilk. The film added ₹7 crore on Saturday after opening at ₹4.10 crore on Friday.

The growth matters because the film is not operating in a clear frame. Yami Gautam’s Nayyi Navelli and Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar are still drawing audiences, and critics have been divided. A soft opening would have been easy to dismiss; a Saturday rise is harder to ignore.

A slow morning, then movement

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on X that the first shows had suggested an opening in the ₹2.50 crore range. By the end of Friday, evening and night business had carried the day to more than ₹4 crore. Urban centres, he noted, were particularly useful.

That shape—weak daytime sales, stronger evening and night sales—is worth watching. For a film with mixed reviews, the night audience is often the first test of whether ticket buyers are responding to the film itself rather than to the marketing.

The weekend scorecard

  • Friday: ₹4.10 crore
  • Saturday: ₹7 crore
  • Two-day total: ₹11.10 crore

Saturday brought in ₹2.90 crore more than Friday. If Sunday holds anywhere close to the Saturday number, the film will have turned a shaky start into a decent opening weekend.

The film beneath the numbers

Udta Teer is directed by Akash A Kaushik, making his debut. Ayushmann plays Bilal Ahmad, a Pakistani spy who loses his memory after an accident in India and starts to believe he is an Indian spy. He told ANI that the film could be read as a pro-India patriotic comedy—one he described as a genre-defying family watch.

Sara Ali Khan stars alongside an ensemble that includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Smita Tambe.

What to watch next

The next two days will show whether the Saturday improvement is a trend or a one-day bump. Moderate weekday declines would suggest Udta Teer is doing the harder thing: outlasting the reviews and letting audience reaction set the pace. The Sunday number, not just the weekend total, is the one to track.
