Udta Teer at ₹16.28 crore worldwide before Day 3

Mumbai: With the Day 3 box office report for Udta Teer still pending, the Ayushmann Khurrana-led spy comedy has reached ₹16.28 crore in worldwide gross collections, according to Sacnilk. India net stands at ₹11.35 crore, with India gross at ₹13.53 crore and overseas gross at ₹2.75 crore.

A soft opening by the actor’s own standards

The film opened at ₹4.10 crore India net on Friday, October 23. That places it eighth among Khurrana’s opening-day figures and keeps it out of his career top five. The comparison is sharp: his career-best opener, Thamma, collected ₹24 crore India net in 2025, leaving Udta Teer nearly 83 per cent below that mark despite a wide release across 6,265 shows.

The genre is the story

Directed by Aakash Kaushik and backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment, Udta Teer casts Sara Ali Khan opposite Khurrana, with Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor and Gulshan Grover in supporting roles. Its premise — a Pakistani spy who loses his memory and begins to believe he is an Indian counter-terrorism officer — is a deliberate comic inversion of a genre that Hindi cinema has lately treated as glossy action spectacle.

That makes the opening less about front-loaded stardom and more about word of mouth. A mistaken-identity comedy has to convince family audiences that the laughs are consistent; a spy thriller can often sell itself on scale alone.

  • Opening day: ₹4.10 crore India net — eighth among Ayushmann Khurrana’s openers.
  • Benchmark: Thamma opened at ₹24 crore India net in 2025, nearly 83 per cent higher.
  • So far: ₹11.35 crore India net and ₹16.28 crore worldwide gross.
  • Next test: ₹1.34 crore gross in Day 4 advance booking as of 5:00 AM IST on October 25.

What to watch

The Day 3 number, when it arrives, will show whether the film is merely soft or genuinely sagging. The more important signal is Monday: the ₹1.34 crore gross in advance sales for Day 4 is a small but useful early read on weekday hold. If Udta Teer can convert its comic premise into repeat family viewing, the opening rank will matter less; if not, a 6,265-show release becomes an expensive footprint to justify.
