Dua Lipa’s second studio album, Future Nostalgia, was released on March 27, 2020, by Warner Records. Lipa enlisted the help of writers and producers including Jeff Bhasker, Ian Kirkpatrick, Stuart Price, the Monsters & Strangerz, and Koz to create a ‘nostalgic’ pop and disco record influenced by dance-pop and electronic music, and inspired by the music she grew up listening to.

Six singles were released from the album, with the title track serving as a promotional single. The album’s lead song, ‘Don’t Start Now,’ was released on October 31, 2019, to critical and commercial acclaim. On the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the single reached number two. The second and third singles, ‘Physical’ and ‘Break My Heart,’ respectively, were released and both reached the top 10 on the UK Singles Chart.

On 17 July and 1 October 2020, ‘Hallucinate’ and a remix of ‘Levitating’ featuring DaBaby were released as the album’s fourth and fifth singles, respectively; the latter earned the album its second top-two single on the Hot 100 and Lipa’s third top-ten single, following ‘New Rules’ (2017), and went on to become the most played song in the United States in 2021.

 Future Nostalgia

Future Nostalgia garnered widespread acclaim from music critics at its release, with many praising the production and cohesion. The album charted at number one in fifteen countries and reached the top ten in thirty-one others. In the United Kingdom, it spent four weeks at the top of the UK Albums Chart, making it her first album to do so, as well as earning her her first-ever Mercury Prize nomination and the Brit Award for British Album of the Year.

Future Nostalgia was followed by Club Future Nostalgia, a remix album published on August 28, 2020. On November 27, 2020, a French edition of Future Nostalgia was published, which included the single ‘Fever.’ On February 11, 2021, Warner published a reissue of the album, dubbed The Moonlight Edition, along with the album’s lead song, ‘We’re Good.’
