Eetha Day 1: Shraddha Kapoor Eyes Fifth 10 Crore Opener

Trailer heat puts Eetha at a projected 10-15 crore opening day, which would give Shraddha Kapoor her fifth consecutive 10-crore opener.

Eetha Day 1: Shraddha Kapoor Eyes Fifth 10 Crore Opener

The first box-office marker for Eetha, Shraddha Kapoor’s first theatrical release in two years, is in. The trailer arrived on October 30, moved to the top of YouTube’s movies trending chart, and has recorded 27 million views and 252,000 likes on Maddock Films’ official channel. Based on the trailer response, trade projections place opening day at 10-15 crore net in India.

A streak built on four openers

If Eetha crosses 10 crore on day one, it will extend a run that now spans four theatrical releases:

  • Street Dancer 3D: 10.26 crore net
  • Baaghi 3: 17.5 crore net
  • Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar: 15.73 crore net
  • Stree 2: 64.8 crore net

The list is also a reminder of how uneven a 10-crore opener can be. The distance between Street Dancer 3D’s 10.26 crore and Stree 2’s 64.8 crore is vast. For Eetha, the useful comparison is with the middle of the streak rather than the Stree 2 outlier, which became an all-time blockbuster with 620 crore plus net and reset expectations for Kapoor’s next release.

What the trailer signals

The early response has been broadly positive. Kapoor is presented in a performance-heavy role as Vithabai Narayangaonkar, the Tamasha and Lavani artist, and director Laxman Utekar arrives with momentum from Chhaava’s historic success. The December corridor has also shed some large releases, reducing direct competition.

The limitation is reach. A subject rooted in Maharashtra may excite that circuit first without automatically creating a broad opening-day rush elsewhere. A December 4 non-holiday release does not add the cushion of a festive frame.

The real test is the follow-through

A 10-15 crore start would be a solid base for a female-led film. The question is how quickly Eetha can travel beyond its core audience. Upcoming promotional assets, especially the songs, can widen awareness before release. After that, word of mouth will determine whether the film has the long run the trailer suggests.
