Jailer 2 crosses Rs 765 cr worldwide, tops Coolie on day 15

Day 15 took Jailer 2 past Rs 765 cr worldwide. The Hindi version remains the soft leg, while the film runs well ahead of Coolie at the same stage.

Jailer 2 crosses Rs 765 cr worldwide on day 15

Fifteen days after release, Jailer 2 has settled into the rhythm of a long theatrical run: weekday collections are easing, but the totals are moving far beyond Rajinikanth’s last outing. The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed action drama, which pairs Rajinikanth with Hrithik Roshan, added Rs 5.90 crore net in India on Thursday, 29 October, from 10,313 shows, according to Sacnilk data cited by The Times of India.

That is an 18.1% dip from the Rs 7.20 crore collected a day earlier. A daily fall in the third week is normal; the benchmark is different. Cumulative worldwide gross is now Rs 765.15 crore.

The numbers at day 15

  • India net: Rs 429.55 crore
  • India gross: Rs 502.65 crore
  • Overseas gross: Rs 262.50 crore
  • Worldwide gross: Rs 765.15 crore

The day’s overseas addition was Rs 2 crore. Admissions reached 479,990 on day 15, taking cumulative footfalls to 28,862,750, per the same data.

Where the language versions stand

Tamil remained the engine with Rs 3.20 crore from 4,462 shows. Telugu added Rs 1.40 crore from 1,665 shows, while Hindi contributed Rs 1.10 crore from 3,972 shows and Kannada brought Rs 20 lakh from 214 shows.

Occupancy tells a sharper story. Telugu led at 19.1%, Tamil followed at 18.1% and Kannada at 18%. Hindi was the softest leg at 9% — and overall Hindi 2D occupancy stood at 9.49%, rising to 12.33% in night shows.

A cooler comparison

The useful context is Rajinikanth’s previous release, Coolie. At the same 15-day mark, Coolie earned Rs 2.40 crore net in India from 7,680 shows, less than half of Jailer 2’s Rs 5.90 crore. The gap in final totals is wider still: Coolie closed at Rs 271.50 crore India net, Rs 317.23 crore India gross and Rs 493.48 crore worldwide. Jailer 2 has now left that worldwide total behind by more than Rs 270 crore with its run still active.

What the week shows

The second-weekend peak arrived on Sunday at Rs 25.70 crore net, after Rs 14.50 crore on Friday and Rs 24.15 crore on Saturday. Monday then dropped to Rs 9.45 crore, followed by Rs 8.30 crore on Tuesday, Rs 7.20 crore on Wednesday and Rs 5.90 crore on Thursday. The opening week brought Rs 334.35 crore and week two added Rs 95.20 crore net.

For Hindi-cinema watchers, the signal is mixed. Hrithik Roshan’s presence has given the Hindi version visibility, but it remains a small slice of daily business. The next checkpoint is the third weekend: if the film can hold above Thursday’s number, the run still has theatrical stamina.
