Udta Teer crosses ₹22.26 crore after 67% Monday drop

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s Udta Teer has moved past the ₹22 crore net mark in India, but its first Monday has slowed the weekend momentum. After three days of rising collections, the spy comedy collected an estimated ₹2.71 crore net on October 26, a 67% fall from Sunday, across 5,583 shows.

That puts the four-day India total at ₹22.26 crore, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The film opened with ₹4.10 crore on Friday, improved to ₹7.25 crore on Saturday and peaked at ₹8.20 crore on Sunday.

The first weekday test

A Monday decline after an opening weekend is a routine pattern; the more telling signal is where the film settles midweek. Udta Teer now has to demonstrate that it can draw weekday audiences, particularly with other recent releases competing for attention.

The opening day was also not close to Ayushmann Khurrana’s strongest starts. His five biggest first-day figures, led by Thamma, are:

  • Thamma – ₹24 crore
  • Dream Girl 2 – ₹9.75 crore
  • Dream Girl – ₹9.50 crore
  • Bala – ₹9.25 crore
  • Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan – ₹8.75 crore

Those openers were driven by established franchises, familiar comic characters or strong pre-release interest. Udta Teer began at a more modest ₹4.10 crore and relied on weekend growth rather than opening-day scale.

The film behind the numbers

Directed by Akash A Kaushik, whose writing credits include Housefull 4, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the film follows a Pakistani spy played by Khurrana. He loses his memory after a blast and wakes up believing he is an Indian Counter-Terrorism Squad officer, a case of mistaken identity that drives the cross-border espionage comedy.

Produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, the film stars Sara Ali Khan alongside Khurrana, with an ensemble that includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, the late Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Sandeep Anand.

What to watch next

The weekend gave the film momentum. Monday did not erase it, but it raised the bar for the remaining weekdays. If Tuesday and Wednesday settle close to Monday’s number, Udta Teer will lean on the following weekend for another push. A smaller drop would indicate that word of mouth is working; a sharper fall would make the ₹22 crore start look front-loaded.

For now, the picture is split: a promising Saturday-to-Sunday climb, followed by the inevitable weekday correction. The next three days will show whether Udta Teer becomes a steady earner or remains a weekend-dependent title.
