Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has moved past Rs 10 crore in gross advance sales across India, with twelve days still to go before its November 5 release. As of 3 pm IST on October 24, the all-language advance stood at Rs 10.15 crore, according to trade tracking site Sacnilk. Confirmed consumer bookings, which exclude seats blocked by exhibitors, were Rs 7.98 crore.
Hindi prints carry early demand
The Hindi version is the clear engine of the opening, collecting Rs 8.91 crore, or 88 per cent of the total advance. Kannada has contributed Rs 96.57 lakh, while Telugu accounts for Rs 28.11 lakh. About 1.81 lakh tickets have been sold across 4,352 tracked shows in 134 cities, and the trade update records the film’s first housefull show after an earlier stretch with no sellouts.
Premium formats are converting before standard screens. Through Thursday night, PVR INOX and Cinepolis had logged more than 50,000 tickets, with IMAX and 4DX leading early sales.
The map is metro-heavy, but shifting
Maharashtra leads state-wise sales with Rs 2.31 crore, followed by Delhi at Rs 2.13 crore and Karnataka at Rs 1.45 crore. The top ten states account for 87 per cent of the advance. City markets tell a similar story, but Bengaluru is the outlier that should interest exhibitors:
- NCR: Rs 2.13 crore from 27,177 tickets, up 7 per cent day-on-day
- Mumbai: Rs 1.60 crore from 22,864 tickets, up 8 per cent
- Bengaluru: Rs 1.20 crore from 18,147 tickets, up 173 per cent
- Hyderabad: Rs 62.09 lakh from 16,705 tickets, up 33 per cent
Why the next week matters more
This early total is only part of the picture. The film is opening on a pre-Diwali Thursday, not a national holiday, and its show count is still below the scale of a major opener. By comparison, Dhurandhar: The Revenge had sold over 9.50 lakh opening-day advance tickets across more than 17,000 shows before release. Ramayana’s tracked show count remains lower for now because revenue-sharing talks delayed final scheduling; exhibitors are expected to complete schedules in the final week, beginning around October 29.
The benchmarks being cited in trade circles set a strong pre-Diwali start at 3.5 lakh opening-day tickets across the three leading national chains, with five lakh tickets as a higher target. On collections, Rs 60 crore is being discussed as a possible foundation, while Rs 70 crore remains an ambitious opening-day nett figure. Paid previews are scheduled for November 4.
Ramayana is planned as a two-part adaptation of Valmiki’s text. The first instalment, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Prime Focus Studios is producing with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The second part is scheduled for Diwali 2027.
