With less than two weeks to go before Ramayana opens on November 5, the film’s distribution map is now complete. Sony Pictures and Dharma Productions were already known to be handling overseas and North India respectively. The remaining question—who would release the film in the four Southern circuits—has now been answered.
The Southern lineup
According to a trade report, Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations will handle Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Yash, who plays Ravana, will distribute the film in Karnataka through Monster Mind Creations. Think Studios, run by Swaroop Reddy under SNS Movie Production, has Tamil Nadu. E4 Entertainment, headed by Mukesh Mehta, has Kerala.

Local experience, not just local names
The choices bring recent circuit-level track records. Dil Raju has already distributed Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra and Animal, and at the Hyderabad pre-release event he said he was hoping for a third successful collaboration with the actor. Think Studios previously released Yash’s Toxic in Tamil Nadu, and had a role in Maharaja. E4’s Kerala slate includes Pushpa 2, Animal and Pushpa: The Rise.
The Karnataka arrangement is the most distinctive. Yash is not only the actor playing Ravana; he is also the local distributor through his own company. Trade circles have speculated that he may have given up his acting fee in exchange for the Karnataka distribution rights, but Bollywood Hungama said it could not independently verify that claim.
Why this matters before a national release
Finishing the distribution chain ahead of the release removes a practical uncertainty. A complete map means the campaign can operate as one national release, with clear local partners responsible for screen counts, show timings and marketing within their territories. For a film built on scale, that local layer often decides how widely the film opens in the first three days—and how easily audiences can find shows outside the Hindi-speaking core.
The structure also gives the film local credibility. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Dil Raju’s presence connects the title to a distributor who has already brought two successful Ranbir Kapoor films to the region. In Karnataka, a home-state star distributing the film is a signal in itself. Kerala and Tamil Nadu are covered by companies with recent experience on large action films and franchise releases.
What to watch next
The next measurable test is not the distribution announcement but the opening-day screen deployment and the first weekend’s hold across the Southern circuits. The audience question is whether a pan-Indian retelling of the epic can convert wide availability into strong first-week performance beyond the Hindi belt.
