Mumbai: The 2027 festive release calendar is being reshaped around Salman Khan. Trade reports suggest Monster is being positioned for a solo Eid release, with two early March dates under discussion—March 5, ahead of the holiday, and March 10, the expected direct Eid date.
The reported shift comes from the other side of the release grid. Prabhas’ Fauzi, earlier expected in December 2026, is now said to be looking at March 18, 2027. If both plans hold, the two big-ticket titles would avoid the kind of direct clash that can split screens and first-weekend attention.
Why a solo Eid window matters
Eid has become a signature box-office slot for Salman Khan. A solo release in this frame would give Monster the benefit of the holiday without another major film competing for shows. According to the report, it would be his 12th consecutive solo Eid release.
That consistency is not only a fan tradition. A clear festive date influences distribution choices, advance bookings and marketing rhythm. A film opening alone in a holiday corridor is likely to command more screens and more showtimes, especially in the mass circuits where Salman Khan’s films have historically opened big.
The moving pieces
- Monster: March 5 or March 10, 2027, with a solo Eid positioning; no announcement yet.
- Fauzi: reported move from December 2026 to March 18, 2027.
- Spirit: the Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga film could be affected by the calendar change; nothing confirmed.
- Maatrubhumi: Salman Khan’s other title is said to be looking at a theatrical release this year, preserving breathing room between his films.
For exhibitors, separation would also be welcome. Consecutive major releases can keep theatres busy across multiple weekends, while a head-to-head clash often compresses consumption into a single opening frame.
What to watch next
There is a second-order effect. If Fauzi moves, the date could ripple into Spirit, the Prabhas project directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. That calendar remains fluid, and no official confirmation has followed the reports.
Salman Khan’s Maatrubhumi is also part of the picture. It is reported to be considering a theatrical release this year, which would keep enough distance between the actor’s own titles.
A March 10 Monster release and a March 18 Fauzi release would leave a little more than a week between the two big titles. For now, the reporting points in one direction: a separate window for each film. The first official announcement from either production house will confirm whether that is genuinely the plan. Until then, the dates should be treated as strong signals, not booked slots.
