Drishyam 3: The Conclusion has moved past a personal milestone for Ajay Devgn. Nine days after release, the Hindi crime thriller has crossed Rs 286 crore in net India collections, overtaking Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior to become the actor’s highest-grossing film.
The latest update from Sacnilk puts the second-Saturday collection at Rs 26.50 crore. That lifts the film’s total India net earnings to Rs 286.50 crore and keeps the Rs 300-crore mark within reach before the second weekend closes.
A second weekend with room to run
The film began with a Rs 66.75-crore opening day, the third-biggest opening day for a Hindi film by the count cited in trade reporting. It added Rs 53.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 61 crore on Sunday before the usual Monday fall to Rs 21 crore. The first week closed at Rs 245.50 crore net.
- Day 1: Rs 66.75 crore
- Day 2: Rs 53.50 crore
- Day 3: Rs 61 crore
- Day 4: Rs 21 crore
- Day 9 (second Saturday): Rs 26.50 crore
- Total after nine days: Rs 286.50 crore net India
The second-Saturday number is important because it lands a full week before Dussehra. Drishyam 3 is not rushing to a record; it is building into the festive corridor, where family audiences tend to expand a film’s staying power. The next 48 to 72 hours will show whether it can convert that momentum into a Rs 300-crore finish by Sunday or Monday.
Why the record carries weight
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior has been the high-water mark in Ajay Devgn’s career, so Drishyam 3 clearing it at day nine is a structural shift. The actor’s biggest film is now a contemporary crime thriller rather than a period spectacle—proof that a returning franchise can stretch a star’s ceiling as effectively as a scale-driven event film.
It also matters that the Hindi Drishyam 3 is not a direct remake of the Mohanlal-led Malayalam version. Trade reports note the two will follow different storylines, with the Hindi film continuing Vijay Salgaonkar’s original arc. The result is a localised franchise bet: familiar enough to sell, distinct enough to avoid feeling like a dubbed import.
The review caveat
News18 Showsha’s 3-star review captured the tension in the film’s reception. It called Drishyam 3 “gripping and fast-paced” and credited the performances, but argued that the film “sticks closely to the Drishyam formula,” leaving it short of a “grand conclusion.” The commercial result suggests audiences are less bothered by that familiarity than critics are.
For a franchise built on a man staying one step ahead of the police, that loyalty is the real asset. The question now is not whether Drishyam 3 is a perfect conclusion, but how much further the formula can carry it.
