Ayushmann Khurrana's spy comedy touches ₹50.03 crore worldwide gross after nine days, with India net at ₹33.75 crore and Day 9 figures still pending.

Udta Teer crosses ₹50.03 crore worldwide gross

Nine days into its run, Ayushmann Khurrana’s spy comedy Udta Teer has crossed ₹50.03 crore in worldwide gross collections, according to Sacnilk’s daily tracking. The milestone comes while the film’s Day 9 India figures are still being compiled; show counts and live estimates were not available at the time of reporting.

The running split is:

  • India net: ₹33.75 crore
  • India gross: ₹40.28 crore
  • Overseas gross: ₹9.75 crore
  • Worldwide gross: ₹50.03 crore

Those numbers make Udta Teer a modest performer rather than a breakout, and the opening-day print explains why.

A wide release with a narrow start

The film opened on Friday, October 23, with ₹4.10 crore in India net. That ranks eighth among Ayushmann’s opening-day totals and leaves it outside his career top five. For scale, it is roughly 83% below the ₹24 crore first day of his 2025 release Thamma, the actor’s best opener.

The production put a sizable footprint behind the film: about 6,265 shows, according to Sacnilk. Despite that width, the premise — a Pakistani spy loses his memory and starts believing he is an Indian counter-terrorism officer, triggering comic complications — has not yet converted into broad initial demand. Udta Teer is directed by Aakash Kaushik and produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, with Sara Ali Khan opposite Khurrana and Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor and Gulshan Grover in supporting roles.

Why the Sunday number matters

For a comedy of this shape, the family audience on the first Sunday is often the signal. Early data is not exciting on that front: advance booking for Day 10, Sunday, November 1, stood at ₹1.82 crore gross as of 1 am on October 31. That is not a disastrous figure, but it points to a film still searching for momentum.

Udta Teer was positioned as a fresh spin on the spy genre, trading the usual glossy, loud espionage template for madcap comedy. The filmography of its lead has long leaned on idea-led mid-range titles rather than event cinema, and the comparison with Thamma is a reminder that a wide release alone cannot create an opening when the hook does not travel. The next two days will show whether word of mouth can push the film beyond its opening-weekend gravity.

In the trades, India net is the commonly quoted domestic number after entertainment tax is removed; gross adds that tax back. The gap here — ₹33.75 crore net versus ₹40.28 crore gross — is normal, while overseas gross is reported separately in gross terms. Tracking services caution that all figures are estimates and can differ from producer numbers.
