Ten days into its theatrical run, Udta Teer has reached a worldwide gross of Rs 60.91 crore, according to Koimoi. That is not the number expected from an Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan release after a healthy opening weekend, but it has been enough to pass one recent title and put another within reach.
Directed by Aakash Kaushik, the film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain under the Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment banners. The supporting cast includes Mukul Dev, Gulshan Grover, Ram Kapoor and Rahul Bose.
The ten-day arithmetic
On its second Sunday, the comedy added Rs 5.88 crore worldwide: Rs 5.13 crore from India and Rs 75 lakh from international markets. The cumulative split after ten days is:
- India net: Rs 42.08 crore
- India gross: Rs 49.66 crore
- Overseas gross: Rs 11.25 crore
- Worldwide gross: Rs 60.91 crore
With that total, the film has moved past the lifetime collection of Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, which ended at Rs 53.01 crore. It now sits Rs 74 lakh behind The Kerala Story 2, whose lifetime stands at Rs 61.65 crore.
Why this milestone matters
Udta Teer is best read as a mid-size title in a compressed window, not as an event release. Passing Batwara 1947 gives the run a concrete benchmark; passing The Kerala Story 2 on day 11 would be a final, small feat before the calendar turns against it. The useful comparison is against these titles, not against the Rs 100 crore-plus expectation that a strong opening weekend briefly suggested.
Postponement narrowed the runway
The film was originally scheduled for October 9. After the strong response to Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3, which opened on October 2, the release moved to October 23. That two-week delay shortened the window before Ramayana arrives this Thursday, November 5. Once that release takes screens, Udta Teer’s theatrical run is likely to end.
How to read the next number
For readers who follow Hindi cinema’s record, the measurable question is simple: does the film clear The Kerala Story 2 before Ramayana reshapes the box office? If it does, that becomes the last meaningful milestone. If it does not, the 60.91 crore total is still the story of a film that outperformed one obvious predecessor without ever becoming the hit its opening suggested.
