The music changes hands
Anirudh Ravichander is no longer scoring King, according to a Bollywood Hungama report cited by Mid-day. The exit is described as amicable, and Sachin-Jigar have been brought in to compose the film’s music and background score.
The change is attributed to scheduling. Siddharth Anand and Shah Rukh Khan are said to be determined to keep King on track for its Christmas release, while Anirudh’s commitments in the south left too little room for a project of this size.
As a parting gesture, the report says, Anirudh has given the film’s theme track to Shah Rukh Khan “as a mark of his respect for the megastar.”
Why it matters
King is Shah Rukh Khan’s first big-screen release in almost three years and one of the most awaited titles of 2026, with a Christmas window targeted. A composer change this close to release would ordinarily raise questions, but the report frames it as a planned handover rather than a breakdown.
Audiences will get an early sense of the film’s scale if the reported plan holds: a promo of King is expected to play with Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana Part 1 in Indian cinemas ahead of the December release.
What the reports confirm
- Anirudh Ravichander has exited King amicably.
- Sachin-Jigar now handle the music and background score.
- The theme track for King remains with Shah Rukh Khan as a parting gesture.
- A first glimpse of King may arrive with Ramayana Part 1.
- Anirudh’s reported wedding with Kaviya Maran is set for November 11, with a reception on November 21, though dates remain unconfirmed.
The wedding reports are separate but circulating at the same time as the composer change. Social-media posts showing an ivory and powder-blue invitation box have added to the buzz, but the November dates have not been confirmed by the people involved.
The cast of King includes Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone, Abhay Verma, Arshad Warsi, Saurabh Shukla, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Raghav Juyal, Jaideep Ahlawat and others. The film was announced last year on Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday.
For now, the headline is simple: King keeps its Christmas date, but with a different musical voice.
