The promotional campaign for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana moved to the Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 hot seat this week, with Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey joining Amitabh Bachchan ahead of the film’s November 5 worldwide release.
In a promo released by the makers, Bachchan asks Sai Pallavi how she went from studying medicine to acting. She replies, “That’s how God wrote it. It was written that I was supposed to act.” Ranbir Kapoor adds the evening’s most shareable line: “Bhagwan ka prescription tha Sir,” attributing her career shift, in jest, to a divine prescription.
A promo built for the family audience
The special episodes will air on October 29 and 30, just under a week before the film opens in theatres days ahead of Diwali. The Ramayana team has been touring Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai as part of a multi-city push, and the KBC appearance gives the mythological epic a wide family platform at the exact moment advance conversations begin.
For a two-part franchise positioned as one of the biggest cinematic spectacles of 2026, the stakes are not only cultural but commercial.
- KBC 18 episodes: October 29 and 30
- Worldwide release: November 5, just before Diwali
- Opening projection: Rs 200 crore worldwide, per trade tracker Sacnilk
- Second instalment: announced for Diwali 2027, with Bollywood Hungama reporting a possible postponement; producers have not confirmed
What the number signals
Sacnilk’s Rs 200 crore worldwide opening projection places Ramayana in the top tier of event releases, and the Diwali corridor gives it a strong holiday runway. Ranbir Kapoor returns after Animal (2023), which collected over Rs 900 crore worldwide and became the biggest box-office success of his career; he now steps into the role of Lord Rama. Yash appears as Ravana, while the ensemble includes Sunny Deol, Vivek Oberoi, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta and Arun Govil, among others.
Sai Pallavi made her Hindi film debut earlier this year with Ek Din, opposite Junaid Khan, and brings recognition from Premam, Fidaa, Gargi, Amaran, Thandel and Shyam Singha Roy.
Why this matters for the record
KBC premieres have long served as launch pads for Hindi film campaigns, but this one carries extra weight because the promo itself frames the film’s central casting choice: a trained doctor playing Sita. The exchange turns a biographical detail into a narrative about destiny, a message that fits the devotional register of the material and gives the team a memorable soundbite without revealing too much of the film.
Industry watchers will now read the KBC appearance alongside the reported sequel uncertainty. Until the makers make an official statement on the second part, the opening performance remains the clearest signal of the franchise’s trajectory.
