R Take Studios maps a multilingual slate with Salaam Venky and OM

R Take Studios is widening its slate from Salaam Venky and Daadi Ki Shaadi to OM, the Dhanush-Mammootty project planned in four languages.

R Take Studios maps Salaam Venky to multilingual OM

R Take Studios is building a slate that now spans more than one language. The production house associated with Salaam Venky and Daadi Ki Shaadi is also developing OM, a multilingual project planned across Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam and led by Dhanush and Mammootty.

That is a deliberately different register from the Revathi-directed Salaam Venky, a mother-son story that brought Kajol and Aamir Khan together on screen, with Vishal Jethwa, Aneeth Padda and Prakash Raj completing the ensemble. The company has kept details of OM under wraps, but the cast list is the early story: along with Dhanush and Mammootty, Sreeleela, Sai Pallavi and Nasser are attached.

A founder from another industry

Founder Shraddha Agrawal trained at the New York Film Academy before moving to Mumbai and entering the industry through an internship, then assisting on projects. Her plan to start a production company stalled when COVID-19 shut production, so she returned to Nagpur to work in the family real estate business, R. Sandesh Group. There, she handled at least 11 projects during a period of expansion, before returning to the film industry when production recovered.

Her stated approach is hands-on: she wants to be present from script development through production, marketing and release, and she places weight on professional relationships, timely payments and a smooth working environment for cast and crew.

The slate at a glance

  • Salaam Venky: Revathi’s mother-son film with Kajol and Aamir Khan, plus Vishal Jethwa, Aneeth Padda and Prakash Raj.
  • Daadi Ki Shaadi: another title associated with the banner.
  • OM: planned in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam; Dhanush and Mammootty are joined by Sreeleela, Sai Pallavi and Nasser, with Rajkumar Periasamy associated with the film.

Why the multilingual shift matters

For Hindi cinema watchers, Salaam Venky is the house’s existing marker: an ensemble drama built around an emotional relationship. OM is a different test. A cast drawn from several industries gives the film multiple built-in audiences before the plot is announced, but it also means managing four language markets, four promotional tracks and different fan expectations.

Agrawal’s influences point to the model she is trying to assemble. A24 represents distinctive storytelling, Hombale Films stands for backing new directors, and Yash Raj Films offers an example of professionalism built over years. R Take Studios is still early; the question is whether it can carry all three at once while moving beyond Hindi cinema.

That ambition now extends to Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada stories, and to international opportunities. For now, the next signal to watch is what OM reveals about scale, budgeting and language strategy once the makers open the plot.
