Kartik Aaryan spent 2026 away from the release calendar, but the first half of 2027 will make up for it at speed. Three theatrical releases are now confirmed between February and June, spanning three different genres, and one of them turns the National Award-winning actor into a producer for the first time.
The 2027 slate, in order
The run begins with Naagzilla on February 12, a fantasy comedy from Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, whose credits include the Fukrey films. Aaryan plays a shape-shifting naag, with Ravi Kishan in a crucial role; Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films are the backers.
Two and a half months later, T-Series releases the actor’s untitled love story with Anurag Basu on April 30. Sreeleela is paired opposite him in what is being pitched as his most intense romantic avatar to date. The project has already drawn notice for his look and for a music-heavy genre that is performing well in cinemas.
The third date is June 18, when Ladaku reunites Aaryan with his Chandu Champion director Kabir Khan. The announcement describes the film as “heart-tugging” and “inspiring,” with an official statement calling it “an extraordinary real-life story of ambition, grit and hope.”

A rare blank year
2026 is only the third year in Aaryan’s 15-year career without a single theatrical release, after 2012 and 2016. That absence is unusual for an actor who has consistently had at least one film in cinemas almost every year, and it follows his National Award for Chandu Champion (2024), which added critical recognition to his commercial track record.
What the sprint could mean
The three films test different muscles: broad fantasy comedy, intense romance, and an inspiring real-life sports drama. That spread gives Aaryan a chance to show range beyond the roles that first made his name, and to convert a quiet year into a hat-trick of box-office openings.
There is a scheduling logic here worth noting. Rather than spreading the slate across a full year, the releases arrive roughly ten weeks apart, which keeps Aaryan in the conversation continuously after the 2026 pause. It also raises the bar: each film will open while the previous one’s word of mouth is still fresh.
Ladaku carries an extra structural stake. It is produced by Birla Studios and Kabir Khan Entertainment, with Aaryan coming aboard as a producer through Dopamine Studios. Reports say the story is inspired by Tajamul Islam, India’s youngest two-time world kickboxing champion, with Aaryan reportedly playing his coach.
For an actor whose calendar is rarely empty, the real test is not whether audiences will return, but whether three rapid openings will sharpen or scatter the momentum he has built.
