The October 30–November 1 weekend delivered a number-one finish for Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 (AK 47), but the more instructive result may be the film it held off. Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 stayed within a narrow Sunday margin in its third weekend and crossed the ₹800 crore worldwide mark, according to Sacnilk, underlining how much of its theatrical demand remains.
A fresh opener and a long-legged sequel
AK 47’s opening strength came from the Venkatesh–Trivikram combination, with the sharpest response in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Its weekend trend moved upward, which suggests acceptance grew after the first day. That is the kind of curve distributors want from a title that needs to hold beyond its core Telugu base.
Jailer 2, by contrast, has already converted its initial blockbuster rush. A close Sunday against a new release is harder to earn than the ranking implies. The sequel has now passed ₹800 crore in worldwide gross, extending its position as Tamil cinema’s biggest global success and giving it a strong argument for keeping screens as Diwali approaches.
The holdovers are doing real work
The rest of the top five points to word of mouth rather than event-scale openings. Udta Teer held respectably despite newer competition; Drishyam 3: The Conclusion continued drawing audiences deep into its run; and Kannada romantic drama Premada Oorali stayed among the leaders through sustained support.
- AK 47: fresh title, Telugu-market strength, upward weekend trend.
- Jailer 2: third-weekend hold, narrow Sunday gap, ₹800 crore worldwide.
- Holdovers: positive word of mouth is still converting in select markets.
The chart is about to reset
The current order will be tested quickly. Ramayana: Part One arrives on Thursday and Suriya’s Scene follows on Friday, with both expected to command substantial screen space. For AK 47, that means a first real retention test. For Jailer 2, it means defending what remains of its theatrical footprint before the festive period.
For Hindi cinema readers, the takeaway is structural: the top five is not only a list of winners but a map of different momentum strategies—fresh regional openings, star-driven legs, and word-of-mouth holds—all about to meet a much bigger release slate.
