    Kim Tae-hyung is the king of fake cry. He is a global icon and K-POP sensation. Kim has the stage name of V, a South Korean singer, composer, and artist. As a vocalist, he is a member of the South Korean boy band BTS. On Mnet’s M Countdown on June 13, 2013, he made his debut as a member of BTS with the song “No More Dream” off their debut single album, 2 Cool 4 Skool. His second solo single, ‘Singularity,’ was released as the teaser for BTS’ third album, Love Yourself: Tear, in May 2018.

    During BTS’ fan meeting in November 2016, V coined the phrase “I purple you.” He was one of the youngest winners of the coveted fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit medal, which the President of South Korea presented him along with the other members of BTS for their involvement in the propagation of culture on October 24, 2018.

    Apart from becoming the King of Fake Crying, Kim was born on December 30, 1995, in the Seo District of Daegu, South Korea, and grew up in Geochang County. He is the oldest of three children, with a younger brother and sister. Since V was in elementary school, he has aspired to be a professional singer. With his father’s encouragement, he began taking saxophone lessons in early junior high, to pursue a career in music.

    V became a trainee for Big Hit Entertainment after passing an audition in Daegu. After graduating from Korean Arts High School in 2014, he enrolled at Global Cyber University and graduated in August 2020 with a degree in Broadcast and Entertainment. He is pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Advertising and Media at Hanyang Cyber University as of 2021.
