    Somy Ali is a Pakistani-American actress, writer, director, model, and activist who has appeared in Bollywood films. She was born on March 25, 1976. Tehmina, her mother, is Iraqi, and Madan, her father, is Pakistani.
    She, her mother, and her brother migrated to Florida after studying in the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Karachi till they were 12 years old. Ali convinced her mother to let her move to Bombay, India, at the age of 16, as Salman Khan was his teenage crush.

    Ali was interested in modeling initiatives in Bombay and also appeared in Hindi films. Between 1991 and 1998, she starred in ten Hindi films as a leading lady with renowned Bollywood actors. She was in an eight-year relationship with Bollywood’s leading actor Salman Khan when she was in Mumbai. She returned to Florida in December 1999 to continue her studies.

    She is the founder of the ‘No More Tears’ non-profit organization. Ali received the American Immigration Council’s American Heritage Award in 2011 for her efforts with No More Tears. President George H. W. Bush presented the Daily Point of Light Award on April 15, 2015. She also earned President Barack Obama’s “A Proclamation” for her work with her NGO during National Domestic Violence Month.
