We all want to be in love, and nothing says “love” like a trip down the aisle. When all the logistics are removed, it’s just two people expressing their love for each other forever in front of everyone they care about—enough to bring a tear to your eye, right? That’s presumably why stories about individuals getting married have been popular since Shakespeare’s time.

The traditional adage ‘always a bridesmaid, never a bride’ is put to the test in this Katherine Heigl romantic comedy. Even if you don’t care about witnessing a smart, humorous lady fall in love, the schadenfreude of the movie’s delightfully terrible bridesmaid costumes is worth watching.

27 Dresses is a romantic comedy film directed by Anne Fletcher and written by Aline Brosh McKenna that was released in 2008. Katherine Heigl and James Marsden feature in the picture. The film premiered in Australia on January 10, 2008, and in the United States on January 18, 2008.
