When Sunny Leone made the switch from adult entertainment to Bollywood, she revealed: “There were death threats”

Recently, Sunny Leone talked openly about making the switch from adult industry to Bollywood. The actress described her difficulties and said she received death threats.

In 2011, Sunny Leone took part in the fifth season of the well-known television reality series Bigg Boss. Mahesh Bhatt allegedly sought her for the main part in Jism 2 when she was still on Bigg Boss. Sunny made her Bollywood debut in Jism 2 and thereafter appeared in films like Jackpot, Ragini MMS, Ek Paheli Leela, etc. The actress, who just made her debut at the 76th Cannes Film Festival to promote her eagerly awaited movie Kennedy, hasn’t looked back. Sunny Leone has talked openly about the challenges she had when she made the switch from adult entertainment to mainstream cinema and television.

Sunny Leone said that Bigg Boss’ creators approached her, although she was initially against the concept in an interview with Deadline.  “Big Brother India, which is called Bigg Boss, called and said ‘We want you to be on the show’. And I said to my then-boyfriend and now my husband, Daniel Weber, ‘You’re out of your mind. I am not going to India. They will hate me.’ Because I have already gone through so much hate within that community. At that moment I said ‘No way, you’re out of your mind. I’m not doing it,’” said Sunny.

She did, however, add that the Bigg Boss producers were quite serious about getting her on the programme and continued being very pushy, which was what got her to say yes. “And I went on the show and as each week passed, I figured something good must be happening,” said Sunny. She did, however, add that there were many obstacles to overcome before appearing on the show, including “death threats and bomb threats.” She said that she spent roughly seven weeks in Bigg Boss and was given a role in a movie based on the programme. After her time on Bigg Boss, she claimed, people grew to care about her as a person and lost interest in “the Sunny Leone from the adult entertainment industry.”

“When I got out of the show, I think what people related to was that I was human and not jumping on tables and doing all sorts of crazy stuff. And they related with me the person who is cooking in the kitchen, cleaning, being a part of the show, watching everyday life, and that’s what they connected with. What happened is that people connected with that girl on Bigg Boss and disconnected with Sunny Leone from the adult entertainment industry,” she said.

Sunny said, “However, there were ‘not-so-nice articles’ and numerous obstacles and hate that I faced in between.”
