G. Ashok’s Hindi-language horror movie Durgamati is a remake of his original Telugu-Tamil bilingual film Bhaagamathie, which was released in 2018. It was released in 2020. Bhumi Pednekar plays an IAS official in the film, which also stars Arshad Warsi, Jisshu Sengupta, and Mahie Gill in the supporting role. Bhushan Kumar, Akshay Kumar, and Vikram Malhotra produce the film for T-Series, Cape of Good Films, and Abundantia Entertainment.
Jakes Bejoy composed the film’s score, and Tanishk Bagchi, Naman Adhikari, Abhinav Sharma, and Malini Awasthi composed the songs, with Tanishk Bagchi and Dipti Misra writing the lyrics.
Ishwar Prasad, a politician, begins the film by threatening to quit if the government fails to recover idols stolen over the course of six months. This irritates his political opponents, who collaborate with CBI Joint Director Satakshi Ganguly and Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhay Singh to devise a strategy to undermine his credibility. It’s also revealed that Ishwar pushed Chanchal to kill Shakti (her fiancé) in order to mask his welfare project scam. Meanwhile, Satakshi understands that Chanchal was attempting to convey the truth about Ishwar’s misdeeds by using the story of Queen Durgamati, which she uncovered in the bungalow’s many writings and relics.
Chanchal responds by stating that she does not speak Arabic, which astounds them, implying that the house was actually haunted.
