How many series are there in Marvel Universe Cards?

0

Marvel Universe Cards were collectible trading cards based on Marvel Universe characters and events. There are five series in Marvel Universe Cards. Impel published the first series in 1990. Super Heroes, Super-Villains, Rookies, Famous Battles, and Team Pictures were among the categories on the cards. Impel agreed with DC Comics to publish DC Cosmic Cards two years later.

Series I – 1990:A character or event was highlighted on the front of each card in the 1990 series. This series included various elements that would not be used in future installments. The 12 ‘Spider-Man Presents:’ cards were one of these features. Doctor Doom, Doctor Octopus, the Hulk, Silver Surfer, Thor, the Punisher, Magneto, Captain America, Dr. Strange, Iron Man, Wolverine, and Spider-Man would all appear in these cards, and Spider-Man would conduct a funny interview with them.

Series II – 1991:Marvel followed up with Series II the following year. There were a total of 167 cards in this set, including five Holograms. Win/loss records were dropped in favor of Power Ratings in this series. On a scale of 1 to 7, each character’s attributes such as Speed, Stamina, Intelligence, Strength, Agility, and Durability were assessed. Series II additionally contained three trade cards that explained the meaning of each rating.

Series III – 1992:There were 205 trading cards released this year, including the regular five Holograms. Each hologram was tinted with a distinct hue, such as blue for Wolverine and green for the Hulk. This series did not have the same long-term success as the previous two base series, which ran from 1990 to 1991. Most collectors think that the design, art, and direction of the cards deteriorated after 1991, as evidenced by the cards’ collectability years later. The series did bring new design aspects.

Series IV – 1993:There were 179 base cards in this set, plus the checklist. A 9-card red foil pursuit set featuring characters from the Marvel 2099 books were also included. It also featured a one-of-a-kind hologram depicting a Spider-Man vs. Venom duel (with either red, green, or the highly sought-after blue tint). This card was found in one out of every 180 packs, or one out of every five boxes. 135 of the 180 base set cards were parts of larger 9-card pictures, making this collection unique.

Series V – 1994:This set followed in the footsteps of Series IV by including several larger nine-card artwork panels. These, on the other hand, were centered on certain comic book crossovers like Fatal Attractions and Maximum Carnage. The plot of the crossover was summarized on the backs of the cards, which were sometimes related to the figure on the front of the card and sometimes not. However, only 81 of the 200 cards in the base set were in this style.
