The BBC ordered a second season, but due to Samberg’s busy schedule, it appeared to be in jeopardy. In February 2014, it was confirmed that Samberg will not reprise his role as Cuckoo’s long-lost lovechild Dale in the second series, with Taylor Lautner taking his place.

On August 7, 2014, the second series began. Cuckoo was renewed for two more seasons on April 4, 2016. Lautner confirmed the completion of Series 4 on social media on March 18, 2018. On August 2, 2018, it was released.

There is a total of 5 series in Cuckoo. In May of 2015, an NBC television network pilot was being considered. The show is shot in the Buckinghamshire town of Amersham and the surrounding ‘old town.’ Some outside sequences were also shot in and around Thame, Oxfordshire.
