Celina Jaitly will return to mainstream Hindi cinema after nearly 15 years, cast opposite Arjun Rampal in Anil Sharma’s period drama Arjun Naga. The film, set against the backdrop of Dubai’s oil boom in the 1960s and 1970s, also features Randeep Hooda, Utkarsh Sharma and Zarina Wahab.
A comeback built on an old co-star and a viral clip
The route to the role was unusual. In early September, Jaitly attended an event as a guest of honour alongside Sunny Deol, with whom she had worked in her second film, Khel, in 2003. Videos of the two sitting together circulated widely.
According to Jaitly, Anil Sharma saw one of the clips and called Deol to ask whether it was her in the picture with him. Once he realised she had returned to India, he asked a casting director to get in touch. The offer, she says, arrived on the same day she officially changed her name to Celina Vikram Jaitly, carrying forward the name and legacy of her late father, Colonel Vikram Kumar Jaitly.
Preity Zinta’s role in the comeback
Jaitly’s return to India in October 2025 came after the end of her 15-year marriage. She says the transition was overwhelming: she had no place to stay, was in shock and had almost stopped stepping out. She credits Preity Zinta with helping her move forward, describing her as the wind beneath my wings

That encouragement, Jaitly says, gave her the push to begin working again and rebuilding her life.
Why this return matters
