Richa Chadha on Cannes: Does the film festival get lost in the ‘fashion’?

Richa Chadha

The 2023 Cannes Film Festival will have Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal in attendance. Ali Fazal will be visiting Cannes for the first time.

One of the most famous and well-known film festivals in the world, Cannes Film Festival brings together directors, actors, producers, distributors, and reviewers from across the globe. This yearly festival is one of the major occasions in the world of cinema. It mixes opulent red carpet-appearances, movie screenings, networking, and award presentations. Bollywood celebrities frequently make headlines for their gorgeous looks during festivals.

Richa Chadha has a history of speaking out on matters related to cinema or social issues. As a result, Richa was one of the first people to weigh in on the debate around whether or not film festivals are increasingly concentrating on celebrities’ dress sense. The actress posted on social media, saying, “There’s a lot of discussion about Cannes, Fashion, cinema, etc. on social media. I just want to say, “Please don’t shit on anyone.” The people who are thanking the businesses, designers, and alcohol labels for sending their influencers here are happy to be there. It’s a place to promote things, isn’t it? Leave them alone. The majority of folks will declare they are at the red carpet but won’t name the movie. Well, they’re not here with a film or for a film. Having said that, should you be so lucky to get to work on a film that ends up at Cannes… it’s the best feeling in the world. It’s after all a FILM FESTIVAL, no matter what anyone says. And as an artist, there’s no greater joy and contentment than a 7 min long-standing ovation.”

For those who are unaware, Richa previously visited the Cannes Film Festival with her flicks Gangs of Wasseypur by Anurag Kashyap and Masaan, in which Vicky Kaushal also stars. This time, Richa and Ali are in Cannes as producers for their movie, “Girls Will Be Girls.”
