Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 opened on 5 November after sixteen days of advance booking, and the early numbers give Bollywood another opening-day benchmark to track. Sacnilk had not published a Day 2 update at the time of writing: show counts and live occupancy estimates were still unavailable. The running India net total stood at ₹64.85 crore, with gross at ₹77.50 crore.
The adaptation carries a cultural weight few Hindi titles do: it retells the Ramayana through a modern cinematic lens, arrives with two Oscar-winning composers, and carries expectations that sit far above a routine franchise release. That context raises both the floor and the stakes for a two-part epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari.
What the advance actually tells us
Sacnilk’s final pre-sales snapshot, taken at 6 AM on release day, recorded ₹50.08 crore gross including block seats and ₹42.96 crore excluding them. That came from 12.14 lakh tickets (excluding blocks) across 26,615 shows in 1,042 cities. The only larger Bollywood opening-day advance this year was Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, at ₹52.35 crore excluding blocks in March.
Those figures are not the same as the box office. Advance booking is a demand signal, not a settlement. One rupee of advance can turn into very different Day 1 numbers depending on walk-ins, spot purchases, screen allocation and how many blocked seats convert into paid tickets.
Why the total matters before Day 2
The ₹64.85 crore net figure is the latest reported actual, not a projection. It places Ramayana among Hindi releases that have converted a large advance into a strong first day. But with Day 2 unreported, it is a snapshot rather than a trend.
One detail points to demand beyond the premiere day: Saturday’s advance had reached ₹31.16 crore gross by 1 AM on 6 November. The weekend, not the first day, will test how much of this is durable.
What to watch next
- Day 2 India net and gross, once show counts arrive, will show whether the film holds or drops.
- The gap between advance and final ticket sales shows how much pre-sale converted.
- Saturday’s advance is an early signal for the first full weekend.
For Hindi box office readers, the discipline is unchanged: wait for the next reported total before calling the trend. The numbers establish a strong start; the second day will confirm whether that start has staying power.
