On the same day that Ramayana Part 1 reaches theatres, the makers have released ‘Shree Hanuman Chalisa’ as a five-voice devotional single. A.R. Rahman has composed, produced and arranged the track, bringing together Diljit Dosanjh, Sukhwinder Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Shankar Mahadevan and Kailash Kher.
Devotional singles are not new to Hindi film campaigns. What is notable here is the casting of the voices: each singer brings a distinct musical style, which matters when the film is opening across five languages and multiple territories. The choice suggests the makers are treating the song as a cross-market asset rather than a single-audience add-on.
Five voices, one release-day ritual
The collaboration does not stop with the headline singers. Sreekanth Hariharan contributes additional vocals, A.R. Ameen and Hiral Viradia supervise the music, and Viradia handles vocal production. The track is available on the YouTube channels of World of Ramayana and T-Series, and the film’s music is being released under the T-Series label.
Releasing the Chalisa on the same date as the theatrical opening gives the campaign a devotional centrepiece rather than a promotional afterthought. It also makes the music the first widely available piece of the two-part project.
- Composed, produced and arranged by A.R. Rahman
- Five principal voices: Diljit Dosanjh, Sukhwinder Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Shankar Mahadevan, Kailash Kher
- Available now on World of Ramayana and T-Series YouTube channels
T-Series’s distribution means the single arrives through a label with enormous reach in the devotional and film-music markets. World of Ramayana, the film’s own channel, gives the franchise a direct line to audiences already tracking the project. That dual release should help the track travel beyond the usual film-music playlists.
Rahman’s involvement gives the single marquee value beyond the film’s cast. For an adaptation already carrying the weight of a religious text, attaching an Oscar-winning composer to the devotional piece signals that the music is being treated as part of the storytelling, not as a promotional detour.
What the film is bringing behind it
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana Part 1 stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. It is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
The film is opening in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, with IMAX among its premium formats. Sony Pictures is handling international distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions oversees the Hindi-speaking market. The second instalment is scheduled for Diwali 2028, which makes this first release part of a longer franchise conversation.
For readers who follow Hindi cinema closely, the single is an early test of how the franchise will handle its devotional material. Listen first, then watch for whether the film carries the same register on screen.
