Ayushmann Khurrana’s Udta Teer is turning its second week into a quiet test of stamina. The spy comedy added Rs 1.60 crore in India net collections on Tuesday from 4,980 shows, according to Sacnilk data cited in the trade. That lift has taken the worldwide gross to Rs 65.41 crore, leaving the film Rs 4.59 crore short of the Rs 70 crore milestone.
The day-12 arithmetic
Tuesday’s number was not just stable; it improved. Collections rose 18.5% over Monday’s Rs 1.35 crore. In a normal weekday cycle, even a modest upward swing matters because it suggests the film is finding late-week demand rather than merely holding flat.
After twelve days, Udta Teer has accumulated Rs 45.05 crore in India net collections. Its India gross is Rs 53.66 crore, while the overseas gross has reached Rs 11.75 crore after adding Rs 25 lakh on the day.
- Worldwide gross after day 12: Rs 65.41 crore
- Gap to the next milestone: Rs 4.59 crore
- Day-13 advance sales by 5 AM: 67,149 tickets worth Rs 1.11 crore
The cumulative ticket count in India stands at 23,69,188, with an estimated 1,34,049 admissions on Tuesday alone.
Why the second-week hold matters
Opening weekends are driven by advance buzz and star power. The second week is a better measure of whether audiences are recommending the film. Udta Teer collected Rs 30.90 crore net in its first week, with a gross of Rs 36.86 crore. In the first five days of week two, it added Rs 14.15 crore net, taking domestic net beyond the Rs 45 crore mark.
That is a steady hold, not a spectacular one—and for a mid-sized Hindi release, steady is usually enough. Night shows are shouldering the demand: the Hindi 2D version recorded 21.69% occupancy in the night slot, against 13.42% overall. Morning shows at 6.08% remain the softest part of the day, which is common for a weekday.
The daypart curve supports the hold argument. The Hindi 2D version opened at 6.08% in the morning, moved to 11.08% in the afternoon and 13% by evening, then peaked at 21.69% for night shows. That is a typical working-day shape for a star-led comedy: audiences are turning up after office hours, not at matinees.
What the next 48 hours may tell us
Advance bookings offer an early signal. By 5 AM IST on November 4, the film had sold 67,149 tickets for day 13, generating Rs 1.11 crore. That points to another working-day hold rather than a sudden slide. The real test will come when weekday momentum meets the next weekend, where a stronger Saturday and Sunday could close most of the Rs 4.59 crore gap.
Directed by Aakash Kaushik, the film stars Ayushmann Khurrana as Bilal Ahmad, an undercover operative whose memory loss makes him believe he is an Indian intelligence officer. The cast includes Sara Ali Khan, Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover and the late Mukul Dev. For trade watchers, though, the story now is less about the plot and more about the arithmetic: another few steady days could push Udta Teer past the Rs 70 crore worldwide line.
