Saif Ali Khan Recalls 10 Stab Wounds and Son’s Plastic Sword

Mumbai: Saif Ali Khan has given his most detailed public account of the January 2025 knife attack at his Mumbai residence, telling Koffee With Karan 9 that he was stabbed about ten times during a confrontation that unfolded in front of his younger son, Jeh. The actor was subsequently treated at Lilavati Hospital and underwent surgery for injuries that included wounds to his neck and back.

A child’s response to a violent night

Khan said that after the attack, Jeh handed him a plastic sword with a direct instruction: “Next time that thief comes, use this.” The child kept the toy weapon close for about two months, the actor added, and now sees his father as a protector. “He thinks I am Iron Man,” Khan said.

That detail captures how much of the night was absorbed inside the house. Host Karan Johar said he had to explain the incident to his own children, and that his son was particularly concerned about Taimur.

From screen reflex to real danger

Khan said the confrontation happened quickly. He attacked, he explained, after seeing the intruder standing over Jeh with a knife. “Perhaps because of my Hindi cinema instinct, I attacked him in the first place,” he said. He described jagged cuts and injuries from a fall, and recalled knowing he was “alright” because he was bleeding.

The line matters because it frames the event through a life spent performing heroics on screen. The medical record, though, keeps the danger plain: about ten stab wounds, deep cuts, and a hospital surgery.

  • Saif says he was stabbed about ten times; wounds included his neck, back and fall injuries.
  • He and helper Hari briefly considered going back with decorative swords, suspecting other intruders.
  • Kareena Kapoor Khan stopped him and pushed for hospital.
  • Kareena said she struggled to sleep for nearly six months afterward.

Security and aftermath

Kareena remembered Khan bleeding heavily and struggling to walk. She recalled telling him, “Don’t be silly. Get in the lift. We have to get you to a hospital.”

Khan ended with a broader caution: people should be careful because, as he put it, “a little bit of security is probably required.” For an audience that first followed the story as breaking news, the interview adds the household cost and a clear position that basic security is no longer optional.
