Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy comedy Udta Teer closed its opening weekend with ₹19.45 crore at the Indian box office, according to Sacnilk figures cited in the trade. The film, which released on October 23, 2026, opened slowly and then moved upward on Saturday and Sunday, beating early expectations despite new releases Nayyi Navelli and Prahaar.
- Day 1: ₹4.10 crore
- Day 2: ₹7.25 crore
- Day 3: ₹8.10 crore
The day-wise pattern gives a more useful reading than the three-day total alone. A slow Friday can be forgotten if the curve keeps moving; a front-loaded weekend can disappear by Monday. This one moved in the right direction on both Saturday and Sunday.
Why the Saturday jump changes the outlook
The Saturday figure of ₹7.25 crore was roughly 77 percent higher than Friday’s ₹4.10 crore, and Sunday added another ₹8.10 crore. That is a healthy weekend shape for a star-led Hindi comedy, particularly with Nayyi Navelli and Prahaar also in the marketplace.
This kind of curve matters for a film that does not arrive as an event release. Udta Teer is a debut film for director-writer Aakash Kaushik and is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Guneet Monga, Apoorva Mehta and Achin Jain under Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment. For a producer, the first weekend shape is an early signal about whether a film can become a sustained run rather than a one-weekend story.
Critical response and the repeat-viewing question
News18 Show gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and was direct about its weaker scenes, writing that “The film’s attempts at humour often feel contrived.” That mixed response matters because a spy comedy lives on the strength of its gags, not just its plot. If audiences stop recommending the jokes, the weekend curve can flatten quickly.
The premise is built around a Pakistani spy who loses his memory in a blast and starts believing he is an Indian Counter-Terrorism Squad officer. That confusion leads to the cross-border espionage mission and the physical comedy that has drawn both interest and criticism.
The number to watch next
The first Monday is the clearest test. If Monday holds close to Friday’s ₹4.10 crore, the film will have a genuine first-week story. If it falls sharply, the weekend will need to be seen as front-loaded. Either way, the opening weekend has already given the film something a slow Friday did not promise: a daily trend moving in the right direction.
