5-6 Rounds at Tiger Shroff’s Car; Target Was Another Star

Mumbai Police sources say the accused first targeted another celebrity, then used Instagram reels to study Tiger Shroff's security before the firing.

5-6 Rounds; Another Star Was the Target

Mumbai Police sources say the three men arrested for firing at Tiger Shroff’s car had not chosen him first. In preliminary interrogation the accused allegedly told investigators they travelled to Mumbai to attack a different Hindi film personality, then changed course when that person proved difficult to reach.

A switch of target

Police sources cited by OrissaPOST said the accused eventually fixed on the 36-year-old actor because his security arrangements appeared weaker. Investigators believe fan-shot Instagram reels and posts provided the detail: clips suggested Shroff often moved without a police escort.

The accused allegedly told police they wanted to kill the actor to spread fear in the industry.

What the investigation has surfaced

  • The accused first planned to attack another celebrity, not Shroff.
  • Instagram reels and fan posts were allegedly used to monitor his movements.
  • The motive, as stated in preliminary questioning, was to create fear in Hindi cinema.

The attack and the chase

The firing took place on a busy Sunday evening and was captured on video. Five to six rounds were reportedly fired at the car. Shroff escaped relatively unhurt; his driver and a bystander were injured. A motorcycle allegedly used by the shooters was later found abandoned in Andheri.

The accused fled to Surat, boarded a Jaipur-bound train, and police say their plan was to reach New Delhi by bus before crossing into Nepal. Instead, Mumbai Police arrested the three in Kota, Rajasthan.

The organised-crime question

A case has been registered under attempted murder and relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Two accused have been identified as Ritik, alias Roshan, from Begusarai, Bihar, and Rehan from Sonipat, Haryana. According to police, Rehan was in contact with Anil Pandit, an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which claimed responsibility in an unverified social media post.

Investigators are also examining a purported audio clip in which Pandit, a 32-year-old US-based gangster from Panipat, allegedly says Shroff was targeted for ignoring warnings against working with Salman Khan. The clip’s authenticity has not been independently verified.

For Hindi cinema’s security ecosystem, the case is a warning: public fan content may now be doing the work of old-fashioned reconnaissance. Police continue to interrogate the accused to identify the original intended target and map the wider conspiracy.
