Rumours have been swirling for days about a supposed accident on the sets of Kantara Chapter 1, where a boat carrying Rishab Shetty and 30 crew members allegedly capsized. But the film’s makers have now come forward to dismiss the speculation entirely.
Executive producer Adarsh JA clarified in a statement that while a boat did topple over inside Mani Dam, no one was on board at the time. The boat was a part of the background setup and capsized due to strong winds—not during an active shoot. “No accidents occurred. Our crew members weren’t even near it,” he confirmed. The shoot, he added, has continued uninterrupted.
Safety, the team insists, has been a top priority on the sets. “We have taken all the necessary permissions for water scenes and have ensured full safety gear is on hand for every sequence.”
Kantara Chapter 1 is the prequel to the critically acclaimed Kantara (2022) and is set to release on October 2, 2025. Written, directed, and headlined once again by Rishab Shetty, the film is steeped in local folklore and intense visual storytelling. This incident may have made waves online, but thankfully, the production remains rock steady.
