Yash calls Radhika Pandit his strength at Ramayana launch

Bengaluru: At the trailer launch of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, Yash made a public tribute to his wife, Radhika Pandit, and then connected that tribute to the most consequential role of the campaign: his Ravana.

A mythological reference, retooled

Yash pointed to Pandit in the audience and said, “And our Sita is right here, Radhika!” He explained why he was calling himself “Radhika Ka Pati.” In modern practice, the actor said, a husband’s surname is often added to a wife’s name. The epic tradition, he argued, reversed the logic: “Sitapati” names a man through his wife. “Just like that, we are Radhikapati,” he said, as quoted by News18.

The moment was affectionate, but it also reframed the personal as professional. The actor was making two arguments at once: that his marriage is foundational, and that it is the reason he can take on a demanding performance like Ravana.

Why the tribute matters

Yash was direct about what a supportive partner does for an actor’s career. He said the work involves “crazy ideas” and constant experimentation. “Wherever you go, I think if you don’t have that strength at home, if you don’t have that support,” he began, before bringing it back to the epic: “Now, after all this, I’m going and playing Ravana!”

That is a notable framing. The role asks Yash to step into a part defined by moral complexity and power, not simply the crowd-facing heroism of a traditional protagonist. At a launch event built around scale, the actor chose to anchor his choice in the domestic support that he said makes risk possible.

The film’s calendar

  • Director: Nitesh Tiwari
  • Cast: Yash as Ravana, Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita
  • Ramayana: Part One: worldwide release on November 5, 2026
  • Second instalment: planned for Diwali 2027

Yash was last seen in Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, which drew a mixed response. The two-part Ramayana is therefore the next big test of his ability to carry an audience across a very different register.

What the launch telegraphs

The two-part scale of Ramayana is itself a statement of ambition. A November 5, 2026 worldwide release places the first film squarely in a global conversation, while a second instalment planned for Diwali 2027 is designed to build on what the first establishes. Yash’s personal note gives the campaign a human story as that cycle begins.
