Filmmaker Manish Gupta, best known for his critically acclaimed film Rahasya, has been booked by the Versova police for allegedly assaulting his driver with a kitchen knife following a heated argument over salary, a police official confirmed on Friday.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday night at Gupta’s residence in the Sagar Sanjog building, Versova. According to the police, the 32-year-old driver, Rajibul Islam Lashkar, who had been employed by Gupta for over three years, was injured during the altercation.
Gupta has been charged under sections 118(2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons), 115(2) (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 352 (assault or use of criminal force) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). As of now, no arrest has been made in the case.
