After striking a solid impact with URI: The Surgical Strike in 2019, Aditya Dhar has now donned the producer’s hat along with his brother Lokesh for Article 370. One thing that is similar between URI and Article 370 is that both films were released close to the general elections. At the film’s trailer launch, Aditya was asked, about this coincidence and if he thought it was unfair to label the film as propaganda.
While the event was almost over and the photo-ops were being done, Aditya took the mic and shared, “Coming back to the propaganda wala question, I personally and seriously feel that the current government doesn’t need a small film like ours to win an election (smiles). They made Ram Mandir for us. It took us 500 years to get that. I don’t think they need us to get votes for them.”
Aditya also added, “Article 370 has the right intent. The timing was decided a year or two ago because the release dates are selected after a conversation with the exhibitors and distributors. That’s how we decided upon this date. There was supposed to be another film in between, The Immortal Ashwatthama. It didn’t happen. By God’s grace, this is the best time we have and that’s how we are releasing the film. People who label it as propaganda, I don’t care about them. It is as simple as that.”
From Jio Studios and the maker of Uri: The Surgical Strike, comes Article 370, a high-octane action political drama, headlined by Yami Gautam and directed by National Award-winner Aditya Suhas Jambhale. Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar, the film is slated to release in cinemas worldwide on 23rd February 2024.
