Hera Pheri 3 Rights Row: Did Akshay Kumar Truly Secure the Franchise?

A saga of lawsuits and last-minute exits, the road to Hera Pheri 3 has been rockier than a comedy of errors. Team Movified reports that after Paresh Rawal’s exit and a Rs. 25-crore suit, questions swirled over who actually owns the franchise.

Director Priyadarshan sets the record straight: “Akshay bought the entire rights from Firoz Nadiadwala for Rs. 10 crore,” he confirms. “I’ve seen the paperwork—this covers every chapter, every character.” Yet rumors persist that Firoz still retains intellectual property control, muddying the waters as production stalls once more.

Rawal’s camp says he returned his advance plus interest, cementing his departure. Meanwhile, Komal Nahata’s Film Information piece claims no final agreement ever materialized—script, contracts, nothing. Against this backdrop, Akshay’s banner insists all is in order.

As Hera Pheri 3’s release date remains unannounced, fans wonder if laugh tracks will be replaced by legal ones. One thing’s certain: comedy may be timeless, but film rights controversies can last even longer.
