Udta Teer crosses ₹11.10 crore in two days

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s Udta Teer found firmer ground on its second day at the domestic box office. After a slow ₹4.10 crore opening on Friday, the spy comedy collected ₹7 crore net in India on Saturday, according to figures reported by Sacnilk. That takes its two-day India net total to ₹11.10 crore.

The Saturday lift matters because it changes the first-weekend equation. A jump of roughly 71 percent over Friday—despite mixed reviews and holdover competition from Nayyi Navelli and Prahaar—suggests the commercial premise and star faces are pulling weekend walk-ins.

Why the second day matters

For a mainstream Hindi release, opening day often measures advance bookings and first-mover fans; the second day measures whether general audiences agree. A Saturday jump is not uncommon, but it matters more when reviews are divided. News18 Show gave the film 3 out of 5 stars and found much of the humour “contrived.” One hospital chase was written off as “silly and frivolous” rather than genuinely funny.

That split between critical response and commercial growth is why the box office trend becomes the more useful barometer for this title.

The weekend arithmetic

  • Friday: ₹4.10 crore net
  • Saturday: ₹7 crore net
  • Two-day India total: ₹11.10 crore net

If Sunday merely holds Saturday’s level, the first weekend will close above ₹18 crore. A stronger Sunday would push the number higher; a fall would signal that Saturday’s recovery was front-loaded. Sunday is therefore the real test of staying power.

The two-day total may look modest next to bigger tentpoles, but the trend line is what matters. A film that was written off after Friday has at least bought itself a conversation going into Sunday.

What to watch next

Star-driven mid-size films are increasingly judged less by their first-day number than by whether they can build across a weekend. Udta Teer is arriving while last week’s titles are still in cinemas, and a ban on screenings in Nepal has removed one international pocket from the release.

The useful framework is the weekend multiplier—the ratio of the first-weekend total to the opening-day figure. If the film closes near or above ₹18 crore after three days, the multiplier improves, even though the absolute figure remains modest. That weekend hold will tell readers more about the film’s real audience than any single day’s collection.
