Mumbai: Tiger Shroff had a narrow escape on Sunday evening after three men on a motorcycle fired at his car in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The actor was unhurt; his driver was injured and taken to Nanavati Hospital, while an autorickshaw driver and some others nearby were also hurt, according to Mumbai Police.
How the firing unfolded
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Mohit Garg said three rounds were fired as the 36-year-old actor was leaving a playground where he had gone for football practice. No one was reported killed, but the sound of gunfire in a busy residential stretch sowed panic. People at the spot ran for cover, the area was cordoned off, and a forensic team was called to collect evidence.
Tiger Shroff’s father, Jackie Shroff, told media that his son was safe. Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar also spoke to the Shroff family to ask about the actor’s well-being.
A claim that points to Salman Khan
Within hours, a video began circulating on social media in which a man identifying himself as Anil Pandit from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the firing. The man described it as a warning to Tiger Shroff to stop working with Salman Khan. Police had not confirmed the gang’s involvement, and the video has not been authenticated.
The animosity toward Khan is not new. The Bishnoi gang has long opposed the star over the 1998 blackbuck poaching case in Rajasthan; the Bishnoi community venerates the animal, and gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, who is in a Gujarat jail, has repeatedly named Khan as a target.
Why this concerns the industry
For Hindi cinema, the incident reads as more than a celebrity scare. Members of the film fraternity condemned the attack and called it a reminder of the underworld’s presence in the industry. The firing revived memories of the 2024 murder of former Maharashtra legislator Baba Siddique, shot dead in Bandra East in a killing also claimed by the Bishnoi gang because of his close ties with Salman Khan. That killing had already pushed security conversations inside the industry into the open; Sunday’s attack keeps them there.
The immediate facts, and the open questions, are these:
- Tiger Shroff was unhurt; his driver and some bystanders were injured.
- Police say three rounds were fired outside the Juhu playground after football practice.
- A video claims the Bishnoi gang fired to warn the actor away from Salman Khan.
- There was no official confirmation of the gang’s role at the time of reporting.
- The attack follows the 2024 murder of Baba Siddique, claimed over his Salman Khan ties.
If the claim is verified, it would mark a widening of a long-standing threat: from targeting Khan himself to pressuring actors seen as professionally close to him. For now, the police investigation, the forensic work and the social media video are the main leads.
