Shah Rukh Khan is extending his entertainment footprint from cinema to live music. Entertainment reporting published on October 17 says the actor-producer has announced UNIFYD Festival, a one-day international music event planned for March 20, 2027, at Etihad Live in Abu Dhabi.
Three names, three audiences
The first reported headline names are Arijit Singh, Sonu Nigam and Karan Aujla. It is a deliberately broad starting lineup: contemporary Hindi film music, a veteran playback and live performer, and Punjabi pop and hip-hop. The festival is being presented as a platform for South Asian music rather than a conventional single-artist concert.
Organisers are said to be planning a multi-stage format, with around 15 artists expected in the final programme. That structure lets fans sample several acts in one visit and gives the event more than one audience to market to.
What to verify before you book
For readers who may travel, the commercial details matter as much as the names. Reporting indicates an early-access ticket window may open on October 19, 2026, at 11 a.m. Indian Standard Time, with general sales on October 20.
- Buy only through the event’s official channels and authorised ticketing platform.
- Check refund, transfer and age policies before payment.
- Treat the date and lineup as announced plans until the organisers confirm operational details.
International visitors should also account for flights, accommodation and venue transfers, because the true cost of the trip goes beyond the ticket price.
Why Abu Dhabi makes sense
Abu Dhabi has built a role in the international live-entertainment market, and the UAE is home to a large South Asian audience for Hindi cinema, Hindi music and Punjabi popular culture. A festival with several marquee names can address resident fans and visitors from other Gulf states, as well as travellers combining a concert with a short holiday.
The announcement also fits a wider pattern: Indian and South Asian popular music now travels through streaming and digital platforms, not only film releases. Artists with different audience bases increasingly share the same live bill, especially in markets with large South Asian communities.
For Khan, the venture is a different operating model from a film. A live-music property requires coordination with promoters, venues, artists, technical teams, ticketing providers and sponsors. The star name may generate early attention, but repeat success will depend on production quality, ticket pricing, audience experience and a clear identity of its own.
The test for a star-led festival
The reported 15-artist scope, if confirmed, would make this more than a single-headliner evening. But a wider bill raises programming questions: how stage time is divided, whether the event avoids scheduling clashes, and whether emerging performers get meaningful space alongside the three reported names.
For now, the announcement is a plan, not a finished product. The names and date are reportable; the final lineup, ticket terms and venue arrangements should be checked against official updates as the event approaches.
